Our first year girls had a busy day in Castleblaney where they played both Ursline College Sligo and Maryfield College Drumcondra and now advance to the All Ireland Final.
In the first game Scoil Dara came out strong and 10 points Alannah helped us to a 14 point lead. Sligo rallied back in the second quarter and took the lead going into half time 15 points to 14. The 3rd quarter is where Scoil Dara took control with 12 points from Anna and very strong defence. Scoil Dara lead by 10 points going into the forth quarter which was evenly played. Scores from Alicia, Anna, Katie, Alanna and Ciara helped to close out the game. Final score: Scoil Dara 45 Ursline College 34
This lead to Scoil Dara progressing to the semi final where they played Maryfield and again it proved to be a closely contested game. In the first quarter both deams traded baskets with Anna and Alanna scoring all 12 of Scoil Dara's points and lead by 1 after the first quarter. In the run up to half time Katie, Ciara and Ellie kept the score board moving and built up a 27 to 18 point lead. Very strong defence from Ana Maria, Katie and Alanna helped to maintain this gap and Ciara in particular drove our scoring with 10 points in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. Scoil Dara kept Maryfield at arms length and finished the game 43 points to 36.
There were great celebrations on the trip home and the whole team should be very proud of their effort and achievements.
