Double win for our girls' basketball teams
Our 1st and 2nd year girls basketball teams had 2 great wins versus Gael Colaiste Cill Dara on Thursday afternoon. In the first year game the girls took control early getting a 24 point lead in the first half with scores coming from Anna, Alanna and Katie. The defence was on top too, holding Gael Colaiste Cill Dara to just 2 points in the first half. The good play continued in the second half and Ellie, Olivia, Ciara Kelly and Lucy Gallagher kept adding to the score board. The final score was 39 points to 6.
The second year game was a much closer affair. Gael Colaiste Cill Dara raced into 16 points to 5 lead after the first quarter. Ciara Conroy got all 5 of Scoil Dara’s points in the first quarter. In the second quarter the gap closed to just 4 points and then Scoil Dara continued their good play and took the lead in the third quarter. This came on the back of 10 points from Anna and 12 points from Alannah along with strong defence from Niamh and great rebounding from Aoife, Emily and Maddison. Scoil Dara continued to push on and won in the end 50 points to 36.
Both teams are 2 wins from 2 games now and are through to the last 16 of the midlands competition.
